In the bible, Joseph (one of the early apostles) was nicknamed Barnabas, which means "Son of Encouragement" (Acts 4:36-37, NLT). When we read the Acts of the Apostles, we can see why. He never pre-judged situations or people. Rather, he believed the best in them, and advocated on behalf of others. We see this in action when the disciples where originally sceptical of Saul's (Paul's) conversion. Barnabas speaks up for Paul, and this leads the early church in Jerusalem to embrace him and trust him.
This page contains two prayers of encouragement. The first prayer can be used for personal devotion or given to a friend as a message in a card. The second is an intercession for someone who is going through a hard time in life, and can be prayed for them or spoken outloud over them as a blessing:-
A prayer for encouragement and strength
You are the wind in my sails
You guide me as I steer and find direction.
You give me the strength to keep on going.
You watch over me as I navigate stormy seas.
You are the harbour where I stop for rest.
You are my encourager when I lose hope.
You are the lighthouse that keeps my path safe.
You are with me always.
